What is Reiki?
Reiki is believed to be an ancient technique that is older than any written text, it was rediscovered by a man named Mikao Usui, who was a principal of a University in Japan in the 1800's. It is used for stress reduction, relaxation, and can also promote the healing of physical problems. The Japanese word Reiki translates as Universal Energy, Rei meaning, higher power and Ki which is Life force energy. Eastern medicine has always recognised that this energy flows through all living things, and is vital to the well being of life. It is also known as Chi in China and Prana in India, and is commonly the focus of practices such as Yoga, Tai chi, and Accupuncture. As a therapy Reiki is used to transfer this energy into the reciever, whose Ki may be blocked or is not free flowing, when this happens it can cause problems that may affect physical, mental or spritual health.
